In Singapore, the primary emergency number is 999, however reports exist that the emergency number 112, which is part of the GSM standard is also available. It is a feature that all GSM-compatible mobile or cellular handsets can dial, even when they are locked or do not have a SIM card inserted. It's important to note that dialling 112 from a regular landline phone will not work, so it's advisable to use a mobile phone for 112 emergency calls.
Before the introduction of the 70 995 and 71 999 SMS services, the previous number used was 70 999. This service required pre-registration and was exclusively intended for members of the deaf, hard-of-hearing, and speech-impaired community
